RAW86 Ceramics is created by Kirsty Wright who is inspired by the earth and organic forms. Seeking inspiration from urban environments, architecture, nature, and ancient techniques, her work begins from the need to express herself.
Each piece is slowly hand built and manipulated, using a variety of glazes and techniques to create texture, movement and tonal shifts. The resulting works take on a sculptural quality, mimicking the earth from which the clay itself is drawn. Her creative process embraces imperfection with intention, working to capture its aesthetic value. Both form and texture are central to her work as she wants to arouse emotional responses. She also wants to embrace the beauty of irregularity and the imperfections that define us as human beings.
